Privacy Policy — Username Generator
Last updated: 18 October 2026
Short version: the extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Everything it stores stays inside your own browser profile.
1. What the extension does
Username Generator creates random usernames locally in your browser. It has a single purpose: generating usernames and letting you copy them. There is no account, no sign-up, and no server component.
2. Data the extension stores
| Data | Where it is stored | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Generated username history (up to 50 entries) | Local only — chrome.storage.local |
Shows your recent usernames so you can copy them again |
| Favorites | chrome.storage.local, and chrome.storage.sync if you are signed in to Chrome |
Keeps saved usernames consistent across your devices |
| Preferences (theme, language, popup settings) | chrome.storage.local, and chrome.storage.sync if you are signed in to Chrome |
Remembers how you like the extension to look and behave |
3. What is never collected
- No personal information (name, email, address, phone)
- No browsing history, tabs, or page content
- No keystrokes or clipboard contents read in the background
- No analytics, telemetry, advertising identifiers, or crash reports
- No accounts, logins, or identifiers tied to you
4. Network access
The extension makes no network requests. It does not contact any server, API, or third-party service. It works fully offline.
5. Clipboard
The clipboard is written to only when you explicitly click Copy, click a username, or press the copy shortcut. The extension never reads your clipboard.
6. Sync storage
If you are signed in to Google Chrome with sync enabled, Chrome itself may sync favorites and preferences through your Google account. That transfer is handled by Chrome, is encrypted in transit, and is covered by Google's Privacy Policy. The developer never receives this data. Username history is never synced.
7. Export and import
JSON export creates a file on your device using your browser's download mechanism. Import reads only the file you explicitly choose. No data leaves your machine during either operation.
8. Permissions
- storage — required to save history, favorites, and preferences.
No host permissions, no tabs, no activeTab, no scripting permissions
are requested.
9. Data removal
Clear history inside the extension, remove individual favorites, or uninstall the extension. Uninstalling removes all locally stored data. Synced data can be cleared from your Chrome sync settings.
10. Children
The extension is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
11. Changes
